Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 G AF-S ED Lens

Extreme wideangle, fast aperture lens with a revolutionary optical design. This remarkable professional lens features a Nano Crystal coating to reduce the effects of ghost and flare, and delivers edge-to-corner sharpness that can surpass that of equivalent fixed focal-length lenses. Features an integral lens hood. The Silent Wave Motor (SWM) feature provides swift autofocus with superior accuracy and ultra-quiet operation. This G-type lens does not feature an aperture ring on the lens body, resulting in a lighter and more compact lens. Aperture changes are designed to be done via the camera's command dial.

I've used this product for: 1-2 years
Pros: crystal sharp images and low light lens, fantastic build quality
Cons: very expensive but worth every penny
"What a lens. I've had mine 18 months and never regretted the investment. This is a truly stunning piece of glass and at home in many genres. Landscapes was the reason I bought it, but soon found its benefits in Architectural and Wedding photography (excellent for the big family photo). I would recommend anyone, when considering buying this lens for architectural use, is competent in Photoshop as the skew caused to buildings is very dramatic, but easily fixed in Photoshop etc. The lack of filter facilities has not proved a problem.
I use this on my D700 and is my favourite lens."

Even better is the shortly coming Lee Filters holder and rectangular filters for all you landscapers out there!

I've used this product for: 1-3 months
Expertise: Expert
Pros: not that unlarge frankly, and a lot cheaper than the 17-35mm
Cons: well you can't do filters
"This lens although expensive is nonetheless cheaper than the 17-35mm by a large margin, can Nikon explain this? This is my first lens that is too big for a filter. I had promised myself I would never buy such a thing. But there you go, and as you zoom down from 24 to 14 watching the glass of the objective lens expose itself is nothing short of stunning"

Expertise: Expert
Pros: all you could wish
Cons: heavy
"This is a beast of a lens - it's big, it's heavy and it's expensive.
But ! This is the best zoom lens ever produced. It is sharp all over, from corner to corner. Aberration unknown, distortion is minimal.
On FF 14mm is wide, awesome wide! For inside shoots, this is the ultimate lens. No question about it.
This lens is hot and will be for years to come.

I've used this product for: 1-3 months
Expertise: Intermediate
Pros: absolutely state of the art performance, razor sharp all the way on dx and fx bodies, built like a tank, great handling and balance, ideal landscape lens for fx, good distortion control for such a lens
Cons: large and heavy, front element could be easy to damage, unable to use filters
"Truly pro grade lens in build and performance. Razor sharp across the frame on DX and FX bodies, except slight softness at extreme corners, but only when wide open. Hard to fault the optics, especially considering the extreme focal length and its nice to see a wide angle free of CAs or fringing and with top contrast and colour rendition. On FX it grabs a huge amount of landscape for great compositional opportunities. It is built like a tank and is physically large, meaning its heavy and bulky to carry and bag up. Forget smaller camera bags...they won't swallow the width. The design that clearly gives it great performance unfortunately means no filters and leaves a very expensive front element open to careless handling or misfortune, just like a fisheye lens. The built-in lens hood is a good design and helps to offset the danger. keep the cap on when not actually shooting! The fast and accurate SWM for AF and manual focus override are typical and welcome Nikon features at this price point."

Expertise: Expert
Pros: sharp, fast focusing
Cons: cannot use filters, only for fx-bodies
"This is the best wideangle lens I've used so far. Super sharp, super fast auto-focus.
Too bad Nikon raised the prices in January, but this is still worth of every penny.
You'll need a FX body for this one. I'm using the D3."

"Bought this lens and used it to do some boxing shots, I took over 1000 pictures and had around 6 that were not sharp focus, the results are stunning and it stays on my D700 great for landscapes and wedding photography (general purpose), the colours are very true and focus is fast and Accurate well worth buying. 10/10""
